Council Members Attend Burn-To-Learn With Medford Fire Fighters
Updated
On: Apr 17, 2009 (23:35:00)
Medford Fire Fighters invited the Medford Mayor and City Council members to attend a burn-to-learn the fire department was conducting on April 17, 2009. Council Members Strosser, Kuntz and Truwe participated. The Mayor and other Council members appreciated the invite and would like to attend a future event.
The goal of this process was to have an opportunity to share with the Council, from the Fire Fighters perspective, what we face on the fire ground, our needs to keep us safe in our operations and the critical need for proper staffing of our companies. They also witnessed some of the different functions that must occur simultaneously on a structure fire. The Council members were very attentive to all the issues discussed and the operations performed. They made note it was beneficial to hear and see this information from us and appreciated the discussions with the Fire Fighters.
The next time any members of Local 1431 see Councilman Strosser, Kuntz and Truwe please thank them for taking time out of their busy schedules to come learn about our profession and the safety issues we face. We hope this opportunity will help them as they make political and financial decisions that affect not only our safety but the community we protect!
